Exercise: Focus with a set aperture.

After a couple of attempts, firstly with the cars, then plants and trees, I settled on Spice Jars, and was pleased with the final results.

When photographing the cars I found to begin with I was too far away and was only really managing to focus the first car.  With the trio of plants I was still too far from them, although the outcome was better the points of focus were only just noticeable.  My last failed attempt was tree trunks, I had a better subject this time and better angle, but because it was dark had a slow shutter speed and due to uneven ground, my camera wobble produced a blurred picture.

Finally using the spice jars and camera on the tripod, I could get close to the subject and get the correct angle to produce the results.

All pictures, 1/13  f5.0

I prefer the first picture, with the focus on the first jar, as it takes your eye and leads you into the picture, and the third one is the one I least prefer, as you have to search for the focal point which doesn't feel natural.
